Why it costs $275

Buy it once. Keep it for decades.

  • Warm without the weight

Each baby alpaca fiber has a hollow core that traps air. At 520 grams it covers you on the sofa without pinning you down.

  • Kind to skin that hates wool

Alpaca contains no lanolin, the source of most wool and cashmere allergies.

  • Soft now, soft in year twenty

Long-staple baby alpaca resists pilling under normal use. With proper care, alpaca textiles are known to last 20 to 40 years.

  • Nothing hidden in a blend

100% baby alpaca at 21 to 23 micron. No wool, no cashmere, no synthetics. Alpaca Origin Certified, Fair Trade Peru, GOTS and OCS.

Under $14 a year

$275 over 20 years of use, the low end of alpaca's 20 to 40 year life with proper care.

Questions

Straight answers before you buy

More on the FAQ page, or write to us.

Why does it cost $275?

It is 520 grams of 100% baby alpaca at 21 to 23 micron, woven in Peru and finished by hand. No blends, no synthetics. Sold direct, with no middleman. With proper care, alpaca textiles are known to last 20 to 40 years.

What does “baby alpaca” mean?

It is a fiber grade, set by how fine the fiber is. It does not mean a young animal or a first shearing. Ours measures 21 to 23 micron.

Can I machine wash it?

No. Dry cleaning is preferred. You can also hand wash in cold water with a wool wash or pH-neutral detergent, without agitating or wringing. Dry it flat on a towel, never hang it wet, and never tumble dry. Between cleanings, air it outdoors in shade.

How big is it?

51 × 71 in (130 × 180 cm), 520 g. Big enough to wrap your shoulders on the sofa or lie across the foot of a queen bed. The Twin Blanket, now on preorder, is 200 × 150 cm.

Is alpaca good for people who react to wool?

Alpaca contains no lanolin, which is the source of most wool and cashmere allergies. If you have a known fiber allergy, check with your doctor first.

Can I pay over time?

Yes. Choose Shop Pay, Klarna or Afterpay at checkout to split the $275 into 4 interest-free payments of $68.75, subject to approval.

Shipping and returns

Orders ship within 2 business days. Shipping cost is shown at checkout. You can request a return within 30 days of delivery for unused items in original packaging. Read the return policy.

Do you gift wrap?

Yes. Tick “Gift wrap this order” on the product page or in your bag, and add a note if you like.
